This is Bannack, established during the 1860s Montana gold rush and a ghost town by 1940. This photo shows the schoolhouse and there are more here.
Abandoned buildings almost have more character than inhabited ones. It's as if the absence of people makes them more human.
I would love to visit Bannack (and maybe write a story about it). Which place have you read about and longed to see for yourself?
