Silence of the Lambs
Now notorious, thanks to film adaptations and Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of Hannibal Lecter (although I like Brian Cox's performance in Manhunter far more), it's easy to overlook just how brilliant a writer Harris is. Suspenseful and full of under the skin nastiness that takes several showers to remove.
