A re-read. Moggach is one of my favourite authors, up there with Atwood and Smiley for wry, relevant observation. This is an odd subject for here - more what I would expect from the likes of Rose Tremain - based on the economic bubble created by trading in tulip bulbs in 17C Holland. Full of nuggety little descriptions as usual (Moggach is especially good at capturing the vulnerable, comedic moments of sex) and an unfolding plot which, while twisty, is believable when enclosed in the semi-hysteria of the setting when single bulbs could change hands for a fortune.
